ESTEVE CDMO Invests Additional $17.5M in Illinois Site

Expansion brings total Morton Grove investment to $33M, boosting API development and manufacturing capacity.

Editor’s Take: This expansion reflects continued demand for specialized small-molecule API development and manufacturing services as drug developers seek scalable partners capable of supporting products from early-stage research through commercial production.

ESTEVE CDMO is accelerating the expansion of its U.S. operations with a newly approved $17.5 million investment in its Morton Grove, IL facility, increasing the company’s total announced investment at the site to $33 million.

The latest capital commitment builds on a previously announced $15.5 million expansion program and is designed to strengthen both development and manufacturing capabilities. Planned enhancements include the installation of two new 500-gallon reactors, expanded containment capabilities within early-stage development laboratories, and a comprehensive warehouse modernization project.

The upgrades are expected to provide greater flexibility for early-phase development programs while increasing manufacturing capacity to support customer projects as they advance through clinical development and toward commercial production.

“This investment represents another important milestone in the transformation of the Morton Grove site into ESTEVE CDMO’s center of excellence for early-stage development and manufacturing in the US. All of this with the goal of better supporting our customers in their shared purpose of improving patients’ lives,” said Andrea Oro, Managing Director U.S. and Global Head of Commercial Operations and Strategy, ESTEVE CDMO.

The Morton Grove facility serves as a key hub within ESTEVE CDMO’s global network, offering integrated services that span process research and development, analytical and stability testing, cGMP active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing, and chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC) support. The site’s end-to-end capabilities enable pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to streamline the transition from early development through manufacturing.

Company executives said the additional investment will not only expand operational capacity but also enhance the site’s ability to support increasingly complex customer programs while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

“This investment is giving our talented team the infrastructure and capabilities to perform at their best. By upgrading the Morton Grove site, we are enabling our people to fully leverage their expertise and deliver even greater value to our customers,” said Chen Qingguang, Morton Grove Site Director, ESTEVE CDMO.
